This year marks the 40th anniversary of Independent Options, and we’re cooking up lots of fun ideas and ways to celebrate this momentous occasion.
The first, which some of you eagle-eyed folk may have spotted on social media, is our commemorative logo! Our special, limited edition logo will be used throughout 2017, and not only highlights our achievement of supporting the community for forty years, it also displays our original logo of a pine tree, which, quite literally, reminds us of our roots!
Back in 1977, a group of parents in Stockport decided to set up a respite centre for families affected by disability, enabling families to have a break. They found a large building which they named ‘The Pines’ after the pine tree which is on site.
Over the years, Independent Options has expanded and we now have services operating in Stockport, Oldham and Trafford, as well as supporting people across the whole of the North West. The Pines in Hazel Grove is now the head offices for Independent Options, with two new short breaks guesthouses in Stockport. Meanwhile, The Pines is also home to the Children and Family Centre, which offers daily services like After School clubs, free play, sign language and sensory play, as well as it being the host of our big events like our Christmas and Easter fairs.
We’re very excited for what 2017 will bring, along with all our celebrations of our 40th anniversary, and we’ll bring you more information in the coming weeks! Stay tuned by following us on Twitter and Facebook!
