img_1019Independent Options’ Christmas Fair has raised a grand total of £1,290.60 after a fun-packed day of festivities which saw Santa Claus himself stopping by to say hello to excited children.

Guests were treated to Christmas-themed activities and games, as well as crafts and face painting. Tasty treats and homemade cakes were on offer, and rich hot chocolate was available to warm up the chilly fair-goers.

Meanwhile the Magic Voices Choir were on hand to get everyone in the Christmas spirit with carols and classic songs to sing along to, before quartet Conchords took to the stage to perform for the audience.

The Mayor of Stockport, Cllr Chris Gordon, and wife Margaret made a special visit to the event, held at the charity’s headquarters in Hazel Grove. The pair were keen to take part in the activities on offer, and made sure to pop in to Santa’s Grotto to meet the big man himself.

Fundraising Manager, Lucy Sawdon-Molloy, commented: “The Christmas Fair was a fantastic success, raising the biggest total for one of our events to date, which we’re absolutely thrilled about. From all of us here at Independent Options, I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along and supported the event, helping make it such a wonderful day.”

Since 1977, Independent Options has been working to empower people with disabilities, enabling them to take control of their lives, achieve their aspirations and enjoy life to the full.

We offer a range of highly personalised support services for children and adults who have a wide range of disabilities. We work with people who have learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries and mental health needs.

Society places barriers in the way of people with disabilities and those who love and care for them. However, we know that with the right support, families and carers are able to cope better and people with disabilities can reach their potential and lead fulfilling lives.

Our services enable people with disabilities to get the life they want and also ease pressure on families.
