Thanks to all your votes, we’re delighted to announce that we’re through to the final round of the Aviva Community Fund! We’re in the running to win £5,000 which will enable us to start dance classes for children with additional needs.
We would like to provide specialist dance classes for children with learning disabilities, and the money will enable us to hire a professional dance teacher with experience and understanding of learning disabilities. We’ve chosen dance classes as parents have told us their children love to dance but struggle in mainstream school dance classes. Dance is a great form of exercise and for children with disabilities, developing balance and building muscle can be extremely important in their physical development.
We’ll find out whether we’ve won on the 10th January, so keep your fingers crossed for us! Read more about our project and the Aviva Community Fund here.
Since 1977, Independent Options has been working to empower people with disabilities, enabling them to take control of their lives, achieve their aspirations and enjoy life to the full.
We offer a range of highly personalised support services for children and adults who have a wide range of disabilities. We work with people who have learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries and mental health needs.
Society places barriers in the way of people with disabilities and those who love and care for them. However, we know that with the right support, families and carers are able to cope better and people with disabilities can reach their potential and lead fulfilling lives.
Our services enable people with disabilities to get the life they want and also ease pressure on families.
