Adam and Steven access Independent Options’ Community Support Team, and recently took an exciting trip to the East Lancashire Railway where they enjoyed a special exhibition on science fiction characters.
Having caught the train to Bury, the gents arrived on the platform to be greeted by popular characters from Doctor Who and Star Wars, including a storm trooper and Darth Vader among many others.
This thrilled Adam in particular, who is a huge film buff. Adam has autism and usually likes to be by himself, but he lowered his inhibitions and got really involved, testing out the buttons on Darth Vader’s suit and re-enacting scenes from the movies.
Steven is also a film fan, and was keen to get photos of all his favourite characters, and enjoyed doing impressions of them throughout the day.
Support worker Karen said: “It was great to see the guys interacting so well with the characters that they have known from on-screen that they were then able to meet in person at the event. They had a fantastic time at the railway station and on the train journeys.”
